A tournament has its own clock, eligible games and scoring formula. The correct strategy begins by proving that an account is opted in and that each qualifying round is reaching the leaderboard.
Capture the tournament rule card
Save the start and end time with timezone, eligibility, opt-in action and scoring formula. A casino day can differ from local Canadian time, so convert the deadline before the final session.
Check whether every game contributes or only a named list. A high stake in a non-eligible title adds no leaderboard points.

Reconcile rounds with leaderboard movement
Use a small eligible round after joining and compare the game history with the leaderboard. Some boards update in batches; save the round ID and wait for the stated refresh period before reporting a missing score.
Tie-breaking rules matter near a prize boundary. They may use first-to-score, highest single win or another published condition rather than shared rank.

Check how the prize is credited
At the end, record the final rank and prize type. Cash, bonus money and free spins can go to different wallets and have different expiry or play conditions.
Do not increase stakes to defend a rank outside a preset budget. The leaderboard can change until the final audited result, and an unconfirmed prize should not be treated as balance.
